This proves you don’t need a new year’s resolution to accomplish something.
The same cannot be said for everybody but a lucky student in Indonesia, that made it, just accidentally.
Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, a computer science student at a local university in the city of Semarang, has become an internet sensation in the NFT market. He spent his day to day life taking a picture of himself, for the past 5 years, from 2017 to 2021. Emphasis on the day to day.
This 22 year old coolly decided to sell off his collection, “Ghozali Everyday”, which features selfies of his expressionless face, taken every day, sitting in front of his computer. He planned to use the collection of about 1,000 pictures to create a time-lapse video of him for his graduation day.
Spidy wasn’t the only one with good instincts.
After learning about the blockchain technology, he decided to sell off his “Ghozali Everyday” to the NFT platform, OpenSea. Talk about luck!
He listed about 933 selfies of himself into his collection with the expectation of nothing going purchased. Little did he know, the collection went viral after an Indonesian celebrity chef, Arnold Poernomo and other famous NFT collectors came across his collection.
Ghozali stated that it would be funny if people actually bought his selfies, and that he never thought anybody would buy these, which he listed as low as $3.
There are over 500 users that have purchased Ghozali’s selfies. There’s even t-shirts made of his image and others have wrote songs about him.
His collection has reached a whopping total trade volume of 384 ether, equaling to more than $1 million.
Ghozali was both shocked and confused by this change of events.
Ghozali plans to invest the money for his future animation studio one day.
Best of luck to you!
